On September 23, the “2021 Container Terminal Automation Conference,” jointly sponsored by the Container Branch of China Ports & Harbours Association (CPHA), Beibu Gulf Port Group, and China Ports Periodical Office, was held in Nanning. For the fifth consecutive year, Westwell was invited to participate in the conference to share the exploration and practice achievements in AI smart ports with leaders and experts in the industry.

Since 2020, the global COVID-19 pandemic has impacted numerous industries worldwide. Despite this, the port industry, being a crucial part of logistics and shipping, has experienced growth against the odds. There has been a continuous rise in the industry's demand for technology to assist human labor. Westwell's comprehensive global AI-powered smart port solution, WellOcean, armed with strong technical expertise and delivering top-notch product experiences, has brought significant productivity changes to over 180 ports worldwide.

During the conference, Dr. Sun Zuolei, Qomolo Partner at Westwell, presented "Empowering Digital Ports with Autonomous Driving." He shared the practical outcomes of autonomous driving projects in various port scenarios both domestically and internationally. This included participation in several smart digitized terminals at Section C of Tianjin Port.

In port terminal scenarios, we provide users with products like WellYard (Smart Yard), WellGate (Smart Gate), WellCrane (Smart Quay Cranes), the port AI security monitoring system WELLSECURITY, among others. Together, these serve users' operational processes alongside the autonomous driving systems.

Westwell's independent development of various key systems and sensors for autonomous driving, such as the line-control steering system, industrial-grade AI binocular cameras, SLAM systems, etc., enables intelligent operations for our autonomous driving vehicles. Our Autonomous Driving Fleet Management System enables multi-vehicle task scheduling and collaboration, further assisting customers in reducing costs and increasing efficiency.

Comprehensive perception of vehicle-road coordination (V2X) ensures reliability for 100% mixed traffic operations without limiting travel areas or lanes. Westwell pioneered the world's first AI-based mixed traffic container terminal operation for Hutchison Ports in Thailand, using autonomous driving capabilities to link the entire port production process. Apart from the Thai terminal, the Q-Truck autonomous driving fleet also supported the COSCO Shipping Ports Abu Dhabi Terminal this year in successfully initiating the Middle East region's first automated container hauling at the port.

With the conference theme of "Empowering High-Quality Development through Technological Innovation," Westwell will continue to explore applications of autonomous container hauling scenarios. Our aim is to lead in autonomous driving technology to aid in the digital transformation of the traditional logistics industry. This initiative is designed to assist ports and other key scenarios in achieving intelligent, information-based transformations and applications, with a focus on global sustainability, thereby contributing to the smart capabilities of enterprises.
